One of the most difficult things for someone to complete when doing an easy hair style is the look of the back of the hair.  Many people have hair that stands straight up in the back when cut short so be sure to leave enough length that the hair lays down or at least looks the way you want with some product.  Notice again how the hair style goes well below the ear into the face.
